Nothing stirs childhood memories quicker than the sight and sounds of the old-fashioned carousel turning merrily on its foundation with laughter from the children riding. The brightly colored amusement was once located at Mooney Grove in Visalia. When purchased several years ago and moved to its present location, the carousel was in desperate need of extensive refurbishing to return it to original attractiveness and working order. Several fund raising events were held under the direction of the Hanford Chamber of Commerce Carousel Committee. Each year since, there have been annual events to the same purpose as maintenance is a continuing needs. Hanford is indeed proud of their unique attraction . . . one that visited by local citizens and hundreds of visitors of all ages each year. It is truly a fine representation of Americana at its very best. |
