Hanford's Historic Points of Interest
Old Post Office

The Federal Government built the old Post Ofice at 218 North Douty Street circa 1916. The handsome bulding with its tile roof, six columns, blue inserts and decorative scroll work served as the post office until 1961, when the government built a new one at 517 North Irwin Street. From 1964 until 1978, they city used it for the Kings County Justice Court and offices. When they moved these offices to the new Kings County Government Center, they leased the building to the City of Hanford. In spite of all the offices that moved in and out of the building, the old Post Office has remained a landmark and a popular visitor's attraction.
